V1 - "Dainty" (1923)
Sunbeam Index Page

1923: Built by Woodnutt & Co. Ltd., of St. Helens, Isle of Wight - An original Solent Sunbeam, Dainty won the 1923 Cowes Regatta Race, the first year for the class.

1923: V.1 Dainty was built for Captain B. Lubbock, who was Captain of the Hamble River One Design Class.
Apparently, the Hamble River O.D. Class, after several successful seasons, [presumably after the 1914-18 war] was dying a natural death.
He promised to build to a new class himself, getting two others to agree to do the same,  Ideas were exchanged and in the Autumn of 1922 Mr. Westmacott was approached to design an improved Seaview [Y.C.] Mermaid.
Thus was created a successful design known as the Solent Sunbeam.

1939 Sunbeam Rulebook lists V1 Dainty's owner as W. C. & W. R. Mathew, of Warner Lodge, Selsea, Sussex.
